I would most definitely sat not! Usually at the Subway where I work, Sundays are dead. Because of this, it is a nice day to go in and work on making subs quickly and preparing foods for the next day (Monday Lunches are murder). But today, was NOT a normal Sunday.

First off, I was scheduled to work from Noon until 7pm. I get there and things are going fine. Normal Sunday lunch. Come two O’Clock, my manager Arlo began making the subs for the huge order for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. They ordered about 85 subs and 16-or-so salads. All of which were BMTs, and the salads were just BMTs without the bread. But just as we started, we got a call asking for everything to be packaged separately. This meaning:

Each sub will be bagged separately

Each sub will have a separate container of:

Lettuce

Tomato

Onion

This in itself would not have been a problem, even for 101 subs/salads, but to call this in an hour and a half before it was due was uncalled for. Grudginly we did this, only to be slammed for lunch. In Subway Terms, slammed is over 80 subs in the course of two hours with three people on shift. So while assisting customers and making the god-awful order, we were swamped. Then the real fun began.

We began running out of soda, tomatoes, lettuce and all the other essentials. So while attempting to do all this, we needed to prepare food for use in the front line. It was almost too much to handle. We did manage to get the order completed (and on time too, in fact).

Then when the huge order was done, we had to transport it to Earnhardt’s private jet. My boss, not having a large enough car was freaking out, and no one else on staff was able to drive it over, I called my mom and she was able to come right over and help. Thankfully she did, otherwise we would’ve had some unhappy customers, to say the least.

The day continued, on as normal, until two more Nascar drivers came and ordered another 100 subs. Grudgingly we made them, and of course ran out of white bread. Then once again we get slammed. We were running out of everything in the store, then to make matters worse, Debbie, the closer called in because she didn’t sleep well-enough last night. So my boss and I stayed until close, at 10:00 tonight. Finally closing rolled around and I wanted more than anything to get out of there, and there was still customers pouring in. So I stayed and helped with that and finally I was able to leave. So now, exausted and smelling of Pepperoni, I am writing this. Then I am off to take a shower and I am planning on sleeping until 4 or 5 in the afternoon tomorrow.

Luckily this is the last big event around here for the Summer, but come Black Friday, I have already been recruited to help… All I can say is I am SO looking forward to that. </sarcasm>

Today I learned a lesson that everyone, whether they want to or not, will inevitably learn. This lesson of course is “taking a shortcut isn’t always the best way.” Anyways, my little trip began around 7:00pm. I’m sitting in my room reading wikipedia, and my sister walks in and asks if I wanted to go on a walk/hike with her and the dog. Not having anything better to do, I agreed and went and waited for my sister to get ready. This trial as I found out was at a nearby dam, and my sister, not wanting to walk the dog near the highway asked our mother if we could get a ride.

Of course, she said no. The idea of walking through a field across the street from our house came to my mind and we started on our hike. Through the field we went, the dog going nuts and chasing after moths and butterflies. The hill which I believed was the dam came closer and closer and we began our ascent.

Upon reaching the top, we were horrified to find it wasn’t the dam at all, but another 3 fields So we began walking again and when we came to the final field, which unlike the others we had “trespassed” on thus far, it actually had a crop of some sort growing (Corn I think…). So not wanting to walk through a field thats producing, we looks for another path. The nearest was a leftover from someones 4-wheeler run. We walked down the hill and of course the creek was there. The dog of course runs in and starts splashing around, but not wanting to be wet, my sister and I try our best to avoid it. After a while, my sister asked, “Can we just stay here.” Myself, thinking the dam was rather close by, said, “No, lets keep going. I know were close.”

All of a sudden the dog runs up a small hill and we were on a road which led to the dam. I was amazed that I was actually right. We walked for a bit (finally on a hard surface, not wet dirt), we saw the road ended with a barbed wire fence. Not wanting the dog (or ourselves) to get sliced up, we walked off the road and into another field. Come to find out, this field was a swamp and we immediately sank in, getting soaked. But our quest soon came to an end, the dam was just a head.

But as Murphy’s Law states, “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong—at the worst possible moment.” Thinking we avoided the barbed-wire fence, we ran towards the dam. But of course, the fence was there, but taller. Not wanting to go through again, we crawled under. Upon arriving at the dam, we let go of the leash and let the dog run. Up and down the hill she ran and without getting tired. My sister and I on the other hand, upon reaching the crest of the hill, we were exhausted; and we weren’t even near the hiking trail.

After resting for a little bit, we called the dog and began walking to the trial. It was rather strange, as we walked through the path, the dog seemed to know exactly where we were going as she ran ahead. We finally made it through the path and we let the dog swim for a bit.

We then began our long walk home. But this time, wanting to avoid the swamp and other obstacles which plagued us during our first trip, we walked alongside the highway (albeit at the bottom of the ditch which runs alongside the highway, keeping in mind this ditch is at least 10 feet deep and 4-5 feet wide. We walked and walked, and my sister not wanting to get the dog as far from the highway as possible (I can’t blame her), saw a trail which still ran alongside the highway, but on the other side of the ditch. Thinking it was going to be the safest way to get the dog home, we walked along it.

A horrible scent soon filled the air, up ahead was a flattened deer. How could a deer be flattened at least 10 feet away from the highway! Disgusted, my sister ran from the deer and we continued our walk back home in the ditch as we were. Soon we saw the bridge which led to our street, excited the dog ran towards it (obviously she recognized it). As we came nearer and nearer, my sister and I realized our shortcut wasn’t really a shortcut at all. In fact, it took us at least 5 times as long to make it to the dam through the fields. Taking the highway took us about 10 minutes and it was probably a mile walk home from the dam.

I felt quite stupid afterwards, but at least I’ll know which way not to go next time.

Nice! So glad to see I am able to keep up with writing of ANY sort over the summer. Oh well. In a sad pitiful attempt to write the events of the last, oh say, two months, I will attempt to do this in one sitting (due mainly to my short attention span over the last few weeks).

Prior to Myrtle Beach: I became employed at Wendy’s, probably one of the better fast food places, but like everything today, still has it’s skeletons. Before I went away, I was scheduled for two days of training, which consisted of the following*:

How to wash your hands.

How to obey the overlord (manager)

The customer is the most important person on the face of the earth

You are the slime beneath the customers feet

During the 4 hours of watching videos, I met the other three trainees who, I would easily say were the most unique group I have ever met (at least who were eventually forced to work together). And as a result of this, I will probably be killed

First off was Christina. She was a senior at my school. Prior to coming to Wendy’s she worked at Burger King so she probably had the most experience working with the slop which someone calls food.

Then was Tiffany. One word to describe her…. “Bubbly.”

<del datetime="2007-07-01T03:33:00+00:00">I forget the other kids name</del> <ins datetime="2007-07-01T03:33:00+00:00">Dustin</ins> was the final part of the interview group and I honestly don’t have much to say about him. During the entire course of training, he said probably 10 words. All I know is he goes to my school (what grade however, I have NO idea).

Once I arrived home from vacation, I was put to work on the fryer. I <del datetime="2007-07-01T03:33:00+00:00">hate</del> <ins datetime="2007-07-01T03:33:00+00:00">loath</ins> it. Nothing better than working for 5 hours over a 300 degree fryer.

But sadly, I don’t feel the need to dwell on that. </sarcasm>

Anyways, now on to the vacation. This year, like we have for the last two or three, we went to Myrtle Beach for week. This year, amazingly started out well. We made it to the airport on time, made it through all of the terminals and actually were there semi-early. An amazing feat for our family, considering the Andrus Family Curse (This of course is the constant inability to arrive to ANYTHING on time. No matter what it is; to give an example, one family member was late to her own wedding!).

After sitting in the airport for a little while we were allowed to board the plane. As usual, we played music plane seats and finally after a bit of rustling around we were all set to go. Just as the flight crew was about to shut the door, a man carrying a rather large “carry on” suitcase came aboard. I immediately got a strange feeling, which was further fueled by the large roll of red wire which fell out of the bag. Because of my completely uncalled for fear (which if I were to blame anyone, I would blame on the media) which left me white knuckling the entire flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. After flying for about 45 minutes my fear of the “terrorist” soon turned to disgust. For the entire flight I found myself looking over and seeing what he was doing. But towards the end of the flight, I was just too disgusted to look anymore. Of course, he began picking his nose, then rolling the “contents” around on his finger, then finally eating them… :vomit:

Upon arriving at Charlotte, my mom and sister met Gene Simmons and were freaking out about it the rest of the trip to Myrtle Beach. The rest of the day was rather uneventful. The days went by and I did some things I never dreamed of doing before. From para sailing, to riding a roller coaster (I don’t like the droppy felling in my stomach), and then getting into a huge fight with my uncle, which broke the almost non-existent relationship we shared. But overall the trip was a nice one, but sadly it hurt my chemistry grade because I “stopped working” (or so the teacher said).

Then every student in New York State’s favorite time of the year, Regents Exams! This semester, I had only two: American History and Chemistry. The American History one, I can only describe it as eventful.

June 19th was the day of the American History regents and of course it had to be close to 100 degrees when I have to take it. My school district decided when Regents first came out, that its students would take them in one of the two gymnasiums at the High School. This inevitably led to problems. Lets look at the flaw to this plan.

1. It’s 100 degrees. Gee, lets put all the kids in a room with windows that won’t open and lets not run any fans.

2. It’s 100 degrees, lets cram 250-300 kids into one room for three hours.

So the second the test begins everyone is sweating and the minutes begin to drag by slowly. I was able to get through the 50 multiple choice questions rather quickly and I began the first essay, which was a thematic essay. I had just finished the intro and all of a sudden I became light headed and my ears started ringing. Then the next thing I know I am being escorted out of the gym by the nurse and my American History teacher. Not at all fun. Then come to find out, the news of my trip to the nurse spread throughout the school and teachers were talking about me and other kids were talking about “the kid who passed out during the regents exams.” So nice to see the rumor mill at work because apparently, I had a heart attack and was escorted out by ambulance (when In reality, I went to the nurse, laid down for maybe 10 minutes and finished my exam.) The funniest part of the whole ordeal was the fact that I received a 98% on the exam.

Chemistry was the next day and that was a rather uneventful exam. I did ok on it and I think I got an 89%. Not the best grade in the world, but at least I passed.

After regents had ended, I officially began summer vacation. With work however, it seems as though its not really summer at all. I like working at Wendy’s, yet I hate it at the same time. I don’t know what I should do, but I have the rest of the summer to decide.

*By the way, that was sarcasm. I know for a fact someone will comment about that list…

School is starting in just over 24 hours and I have this to say…

“I DON”T WANNA GO! :bawling:”

It seems like summer just started and already its time to go back. Its amazing, my mother said she isn’t even ready for us to go back. All I can say it’s not a summer I ever want to relive. But anyways, this year is going to be a lot different mainly because of my brother and sister. My brother is going into seventh grade (hes the youngest of my siblings) and my mom is petrified of him going. Not that I can say I blame her, middle school sucks. Then my sister, she is going to be a freshmen and we’re going to be in the same school together.

Not that its a really bad thing, but it is going to be strange. Theres a chance we’ll be in P.E. together or bump into eachother in the halls (actually I can guarentee that will happen).

My mom keeps saying that this year and next year will fly by, but I doubt it.

Check back tomorrow for more about my day in hell (a.k.a. High School)

Wow, its been a while since I’ve updated. Oh well, things should be getting a bit more interesting soon… I hope.

Anyways, today I went with my friends family to the Country Fair and we watched the demolition derby (redneck I know). It was from 7pm til 10pm and we got to see about 70 cars get destroyed. It was quite interesting, but not really my cup of tea. It was extremely loud too, I hate when one car revs its engine, let alone 12 of them! When it was finally over, my friends parents talked to a bunch of other people and I then we finally left and I cam home. I got a drink and dinner and went to bed around midnight. It’s now 4 and I feel like crap. My legs hurt, I feel thursty but when I drink somthing it doesn’t taste right, and I can’t sleep! I don’t know whats wrong with me! Oh well, now I’ll probably sleep all day.

I’m also pretty excited, sometime this week my family and I are going to an amusement part somewhere, either Knoebels or Seabreeze. I’m hoping Knoebels because theres a TON there and you only pay for what rides you want to go on, instead of X amount of dollars to get into the park which will be good for my grandma who can only go on certain rides (eg the Log Flume).

Have you ever noticed that? Not too much blogworthy really happens over the summer. I mean sure, once in a while you’ll do somthing with your friends thats interesting, but most of the time, its just you hanging out doing nothing. At least thats how its been for me.

My Trip to Ovid
It seems like I have the best luck with trips out of town. Anyways yesterday my mother, stepfather, sister, grandmother, and I went to Ovid to get her camper because she got a job in Cooperstown, NY and she wants to stay in her camper.

On the way we stopped in Watkins Glen and went to Mr. Chicken, the best rotisserie chicken resturaunt in the Finger Lakes Region. It was so good, my sister had chicken nuggets and I had the chicken dinner. It got quite crowded as we were eating, (its almost like people folloiw us! )

We then went straight to Ovid and when we got to the campground it was empty. So my sister suggested scaring the campground owner into thinking the camper was stolen, but I don’t think it would work. So we ripped the camper apart and hooked it up to the truck and the back of the truck sagged so low due to the weight of the camper. So before we left, my grandma was moving a couple things and my mom came to the car and said

“You ought to be ashamed of yourselves, making your grandma move everything herself!”

And while my mom was saying this my grandma was making faces and sticking her tongue out imitating her. So I’m watching my grandma and trying to keep a straight face while my momis yelling at me. It was so weird, I mean how often does someone actually say “You ought to be ashamed of yourself?!”

So we finally made it home, and I kinda hung out and debated on the future of this site, originally I was going to put it on hiatas (and I actually did, and it stayed up a whole 12 hours before I decided against it!). So thats about it.

The best is yet to come. Remember “my trip to hellimean Cooperstown?” Today my mom and stepdad are going up. Lets see how they enjoy it!

Yesterday was such a fun day. I had a job interview at subway, so my grandmother took me to that. For once we got there early! So i sat there and waited for the woman interviewing me to get done with her job. So when the interview finally started, I had sat there for over a half an hour, (not bad, but nerve racking). She asked me the basics like “What do you feel you can bring to subway” and the like. So when it was finally over, my grandma took me to her house to get my sister so we could leave for Cooperstown.

The trip started ok, the occasional bad driver, but you can’t avoid them. We stopped and had dinner at Cracker Barrel, then left. Of course the main bridge had to be out so we had to take a detour that ended up being an hour out of the way. By the time we made it to Cooperstown it was around 6:30. We looked at some campgrounds and one was hideous. The neighbors were scary, they had a “petting zoo” and a putt-putt course made from old trashcans.

We then decided to go see the hospital where my grandma would be working. She was telling us a little bit about it, and how it looked like the hospital in our home town. She then started telling us about the new heart clinic when she drove into a pothole and blew up the tire. Of course, when this happens its during a downpour and there is thunder and lightning.

A volunteer firefighter comes and changes the tire for my grandma, and by the time hes done, the AAA towtruck is there. We drive to his shop because he said the tire wasn’t good enough to get us the 3 hour highway ride back to Elmira. So in the shop we look at the tire and there is a golf ball sized hole in the tire and it was beyond repair. The repairman ripped apart an old car to get the tire off and in the process we were there for over two hours.

Then things started to get creepy. The repairman started flirting with my grandma. He told her how he was a urologist, an ambulance driver, a painter, and everything under the sun. He then told her how he moved up here from Houston, Texas, and vowed to stay in New York after his wife left him in the 1990′s. Then my grandma was giving me her password to her cell phone and it was her birthyear. The repairman said, “Oh, its 1970.” (I hope not, my mom was born in 1969…) When it was all fixed we were going to get a drink and he followed us down the road. My grandma the whole way home kept asking if he was following us.

We then went to a Best Western to check the rates as my grandmother has yet to find a place to stay. We got in there and there were these annoying little brats running around. She walked up to the desk and waited for the man who appeared to be watching the children to talk to her. He didn’t. He, as she later found out, was made of wax. The fact that he was missing fingers should have tipped her off.

After that happened we went to get ice cream, and my sister found someones wallet and they spent a good half hour trying to find a phone number to call the guy. We finally left and got home and it was after 1. Mom said she left the door unlocked for us… and guess what… it wasn’t unlocked. Its pitch black out, dead silent, and we’re locked out. My grandma called into the house (as no one was answering the door) and mom came and unlocked the door. I went into my room and went to bed.

Now today, Im sick and feel like garbage. “Thanks alot Cooperstown!”
