For the regulars at Sway Forum, Angela, one of the admins started a thing called sway swap. And what you would do is say if you wanted to join, then she would pick your name out of a hat, and whoever you got, you had to make a cd and send it to.

The official end of summer countdown has begun. Less than 2 weeks left of freedom left. I’m really dreading going back to school. I’m ready to be done with public school. The OMG your shoe laces don’t match your hair and the entire heirarchy of public high school is getting old. Oh well what can you do.

In other news, I have my new layout up. Hideous isn’t it. It started out looking fine, but now I’m not too sure about it, and there’s errors in Internet Explorer that I’ve yet to figure out. Whats weird is it looks fine (all but the transparent PNG in the header) for me, but for everyone else, its kinda weird looking. Oh well.

I am excited about Wednesday. We’re going to Knoebels and staying over night. It should be a nice way to end the summer.

Wow, this post is really jumpy… I don’t know whats wrong with me. Nothing has been extremely interesting lately, and my ability to write blogs that make any sort of sense has kinda disappeared. Hopefully it will return.

Written: August 22, 2006 at 5:30AM EST

well actually, Please comment :D. Anyways, due to the lack of updates, I will now share with you my amazingly boring (and towards the end PAINFUL day). It started at 6:30, I woke up, then went back to sleep on and off until around 11… err make that 12:15ish. I then decided to check my email, as I am still attempting to download guestblock, and the creator was kind enough to upload a version for me, but I have yet to be able to download it. So then I went to SwayForum, where they were talking about the Sims 2. For some reason I had an urge to check out simlogical.com, a really cool spot for old Sims 1 downloads, it closed and I decided to look for the downloads. I found them, but it was in a SMF forum. It took FOREVER to download. But I did it, and it turned out to be 449 zip files. :D So now I have it for my own use, I’m so happy!!!

About 200 files earlier, we went to the gym and while we were there my sister and I decided to take a spinning class. BIG MISTAKE!!!! First off, for those of you who don’t already know, spinning is a class on modified exercise bikes with heavy disks in the front which make it hard to pedal and stop. Well, we started peddling normally, then we started picking up speed, which makes it harder. Then we had to stand up and stretch our arms to the side then behind our heads, all well peddeling faster and faster… It was NOT FUN. I could barely keep balanced normally on the bike (due to the way they are set up), let alone stand and lean in weird directions. I then fled the class :icon_redface: and ran on the treadmill instead and lifted weights instead.

All in all a rather interesting day… and I’m not going to go into what happened at Lowes :icon_eek:. Lets just say some things are better left unsaid.

Why Despair.nu and other commenting sites Suck*!

Written: August 18, 2006 at 6:05PM EST

A few months ago, I decided to try http://www.despair.nu. After a few months of commenting on sites that take hours to load, and text thats extremely small, I have come to the conclusion is sucks. I will now give you my reasons.

1. Your’re forced to comment every 2 days. After you comment, others don’t, which basically defeats the purpose of the site.

2. You get comments that don’t relate to the post at all. For example, from my “Nerd-like Rantings” post, I recieved this comment, which barely relates to my post.

I hate plugins. I just don’t bother with them really 0____o
Stupid Despair tells me to comment you when you have a blog that is seriously hard to comment on! Meh.

To be honest, I don’t give a shit if its hard to comment on. I see that because I don’t “whine about my hair style and “Gasp” I think So and so likes me” it magically makes my posts hard to comment on. I mean, I’ll be honest, some of my posts aren’t exactly easy to comment on, but if you can’t think of anything, comment on another post, or don’t comment at all. It’s that simple.

3. People come, read 1 entry, comment and leave. What is the point of this? You put a lot of time and energy into making a site, then people come and spend 3 minutes skimming an entry, leaving a shitty comment and leaving, never to look back.

Now is the time where I could go into how sites your suppossed to comment usually include a HUGE header image (for example, on one site, the image was 900 X 612px and the site took 8 minutes to load. Its a bit much, and I only stayed because I was required to by the commenting site.

The site itself is run fine. Albeit the moderators don’t exactly moderate all the time, but its expected with 300 active sites. The idea though is kinda iffy. Force people to comment in hopes that others will stay. This like many ideas may seem (or have seemed) good on paper, but in real life it doesn’t work.

*I apologize if I offended anyone with this rant, but its all true.

Nerd-like Rantings

Written:

Ok, this post is mainly for the nerds among us. (Normal people, feel free to leave).

Anyways, have you ever noticed how fast the web changes? Like a few weeks ago, I attempted to install guestblock, because it seemed cool and some other sites had it on. So after messing around with it for a couple hours, I gave up and deleted it. Come to find out a few weeks later, while searching through my hosts help section, they said how to install the PEAR application I needed. Excited, I go to find the script, and its GONE! In a matter of weeks, a seemingly popular site disappeared off the face of the earth.

Then today, I decided to install a poll script for wordpress. After searching through WP-PLUGINS, there were 2 scripts. I downloaded one, and it gave me tons of errors. Then I downloaded democracy, the other poll plugin, and its admin panel didn’t work! Come on, 2 scripts and neither work! So, I’ve given up.

Thats about it for my nerd rant…. and now to some happier, but still nerd-like news.

Starlet FINALLY changed her layout. Its not long pink with a flower-looking thing anymore!!!!

And finally, If you’re bored and looking for somthing to do, be sure to check out SILLYISH and JEMJABELLA, 2 very interesting sites (for the nerds and nerds at heart!)

What is wrong with people?!?

Written: August 14, 2006 at 7:00PM EST

Yesterday, I was down in my sisters room and she was messing with a picture in MS Paint. I downloaded the gimp for her and she’s been messing with it ever since. A few weeks ago, my mom was telling me how my 12 year old cousin had a myspace along with the other freaks you could call members of my family. While I was down there, I had her look up the profiles. First we went searched for my cousins profile and nothing turned up. In the process we found my cousin Shane’s profile.

Its horrible! A prime example of why myspace is bad. Terrible designs mixed with background music. I do love hearing glorious songs with people screaming about how no one likes them and they want to die.

EDIT: I worded this original segment completely wrong. I have nothing against any bands or layouts supporting bands. Its just that they way some are done isn’t quite aesthetically pleaseing to me (For example the background repeats strangely). And I don’t care for music from sites blaring above my own. I don’t mind music on sites as long as I (the user) can control when it starts and stops!

So from there, I found my cousin’s profile. Keep in mind shes about 12. A few months ago Shane sent her some perverted comments on myspace, and her mother flipped. So what is she doing on myspace?!? While I was at her profile, I also learned a few other things. Mainly being that she is now

*16 years old… Good to know
*Full and beautiful … Ha ha, yeah right

So much more I could go on about, but I won’t.

And then the best part in the whole entire world! Shane’s fathers new baby Holden Dwaine Hartman has a myspace. So see, its clearly fine to have a myspace if your under 13. Screw the rules, who cares!

See “His” profile here.

EDIT: Wow, a 99 year old baby!

What the hell is wrong with people! Why would you publicly post pictures of your 9 month old baby along with your general location. And its these same people who wonder why the hell little kids are so easily found by predators.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t care for myspace, but I don’t hate it. I’m sure the target audience it was made for loves it, but there shouldn’t be 12 year olds on there. Where are the parents when these kids are doing this… oh wait, I know, they’re too busy with their own profiles.

Edit: Is it just me, or do a lot of the kids/teenagers on the site seem like the ones you want to beat the crap out of?

School Countdown has Begun

Written:

Joy, don’t you (or in some cases, didn’t you) just love (note the sarcasm) the middle of August. The time when the schools decide to send your parents calendars, lunch menus, and all the other stuff that tell you the end is near? I HATE it! It seems like Summer just started and its over already.

A little tidbit from the school year calendar also makes me wonder if teachers dread the start of school as much as the students do…

Hmm....

It’s little hints like that, which make me suspect they do. I mean, why would they include this in the school calender 3 times if it didn’t hold some meaning to them?

Oh, well. The Start of school is inevitable. (Sorry for the lack of updates. I will try and post more often. Shouldn’t be a problem when school starts though!)

Long time, no update!

Written: August 7, 2006 at 11:49AM EST

Wow, its been a while since I’ve updated. Oh well, things should be getting a bit more interesting soon… I hope.

Anyways, today I went with my friends family to the Country Fair and we watched the demolition derby (redneck I know). It was from 7pm til 10pm and we got to see about 70 cars get destroyed. It was quite interesting, but not really my cup of tea. It was extremely loud too, I hate when one car revs its engine, let alone 12 of them! When it was finally over, my friends parents talked to a bunch of other people and I then we finally left and I cam home. I got a drink and dinner and went to bed around midnight. It’s now 4 and I feel like crap. My legs hurt, I feel thursty but when I drink somthing it doesn’t taste right, and I can’t sleep! I don’t know whats wrong with me! Oh well, now I’ll probably sleep all day.

I’m also pretty excited, sometime this week my family and I are going to an amusement part somewhere, either Knoebels or Seabreeze. I’m hoping Knoebels because theres a TON there and you only pay for what rides you want to go on, instead of X amount of dollars to get into the park which will be good for my grandma who can only go on certain rides (eg the Log Flume).

Thats it for now, off to check a couple forums then I’ll try to sleep again. =/
